The new Cooper River Park Ice Rink will be open from Nov. 28 to Jan. 6 for park patrons.

It will be open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, the rink will be open from noon to 10 p.m.

The 50 foot by 70 foot ice rink will be located in the center of the park’s Jack Curtis Stadium on North Park Drive.

“This will be another great reason to visit one of Camden County’s great parks,” Camden County Freeholder Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department, said. “Cooper River Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with lights in the trees, and vendors selling soft pretzels and hot chocolate.

“The ice rink is about the same size as the one in Rockefeller Center. Many people may remember ice skating in Cooper River Park years ago. Our new version of the ice rink brings this experience to another level.”

Children 12 years of age and younger will be admitted onto the ice for free. There is a $4 admission fee for those 13 years and older, and a $3 skate rental fee. There is plenty of free parking in lots to either side of the stadium.

“Bring your entire family to Cooper River Park for a new winter tradition,” Nash said. “This is a great opportunity to introduce kids to skating. There might be some future figure skaters or hockey players out there.”
