Good News for Explosion Victim: Beloved Missing Cat Found

As Raquel Nunn, who suffered severe injuries in the Haddon Heights apartment explosion, continues to recover, she had one piece of good news this week: Her cat Leo was found.

Leo, a black Maine coon, was missing in the aftermath of the devastating Feb. 23 explosion, which flattened a home converted into apartments and injured Nunn and another resident. In the aftermath, Haddon Heights Police pleaded for the community to keep an eye out for Leo. His picture was plastered virtually across social media sites, and around Haddon Heights on fliers.

Leo was found, police announced Wednesday, and is being treated by Dr. Edward Sheehan, who has a veterinary practice in Camden's Fairview section. Sheehan is donating his services for Leo's care. The cat was found with burned paws and some hair burned off.

Knowing that Leo is safe is hopefully a bright spot for Nunn, who is still hospitalized and continues to have surgeries on her injuries. Her latest surgery was on Monday, according to a Facebook page set up to support her. 

Help for Nunn continues to pour in, with a Give Forward page set up for her medical bills already surpassing its $10,000 goal, a salon selling raffle tickets for donations, her employer holding an earlier fundraiser and the Haddon Heights Good Neighbors collecting money for her and the other explosion victims, among other initiatives.

Authorities believe a natural gas leak caused the explosion and ensuing fire at the White Horse Pike apartment building.
