Man Attacked Collingswood Residents, Set Home On Fire: Police

A manhunt was on Sunday evening for a man who attacked two Collingswood residents in their home and set their house on fire.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — Police are searching for a man who broke into a Collingswood home and attacked the residents before setting it on fire.

The man broke into a home on the 200 block of Crestmont Terrace, attacked one resident and tied the other up, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Collingswood Police Chief Kevin Carey. He demanded money before setting the house on fire and leaving, according to authorities.

Firefighters responded to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. After putting out the fire, they found one person suffering from injuries not caused by the fire. The residents were not identified by authorities Sunday evening.

One of the victims described the man as thin and darker-skinned with a short beard and dark hair wearing a yellow winter hat and a yellow and black zip-up sweatshirt.
