South Jersey Under Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service says conditions are favorable over much of NJ for a tornado to form.

The majority of New Jersey—including Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties—is under a tornado watch issued by the National Weather Service.

The watch lasts until 10 p.m. Thursday.

A tornado watch means weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. It's a step down from a warning, which indicates a tornado has already been spotted, according to Accuweather.

Counties included in the tornado watch are: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Sussex and Warren.

The tri-county area also is under a hazardous weather outlook with more strong, sudden storms—like the ones that have hit all this week in the evening—expected again.
