Can You Canoe In Cranford? You Can, With Coronavirus Precautions

The Township Committee also gave updates on other recreation options, like outdoor camping and the Orange Pool.

CRANFORD, NJ — Can you canoe in Cranford amid coronavirus precautions? You can canoe in Cranford, says the Township Committee.

On Thursday evening, a message from the committee noted that the popular July 4th Canoe Races are on for this year. They said, "Details and precautions are being finalized and will be posted on the Cranford Parks and Recreation Facebook page."

  • Enjoy nature and outdoor activities at the Township’s Cranford West campground in Hope, Sussex County. Tent sites are available for $25 per night July 3 through September 27. Make reservations here or call 908-709-7283.
  • Memberships are still available at Orange Avenue Pool (pool details here). Some have asked the township to offer day passes this summer. In the interest of public and staff safety, the Township Committee and Swim Pool Utility Advisory Board decided to open the pool to members only. This decision was based on recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and the NJ Recreation, Parks & Aquatics Planning Committee in the event contact training is necessary. The committee also noted Thursday night that the township has reported no new coronavirus cases or fatalities since the last report, holding at 485 confirmed cases and 95 fatalities among residents.
