Cranford To Kick Off 150th Anniversary Celebrations Sunday

The township is planning a year of celebratory events.

CRANFORD, NJ — Since 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Township of Cranford, the town is kicking off a year of activities starting this Sunday with a ceremony hosted by Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty.

A resolution at the council meeting this past Tuesday noted that Cranford was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey legislature on March 14, 1871.

The 150th Anniversary Committee has a number of ideas in the works including the return of the Cranford River Carnival, a bike race, a scavenger hunt, and more.

A ceremony to acknowledge the anniversary will take place at 1:30 Sunday at the Cranford Municipal Building.
