Cranford Local Dies At 110, Was One Of NJ's Oldest Residents
Mamie Tarver of Cranford was the third oldest known New Jersey resident as of August, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

CRANFORD, NJ — Mamie Tarver of Cranford, one of New Jersey's oldest residents, died Tuesday at the age of 110, according to nj.com.
Tarver died at Cranford Health and Extended Care Center and was the third oldest known New Jersey resident as of August, according to the Gerontology Research Group.
Born on April 18, 1907, Tarver lived in Newark as a child and later moved to Cranford, where she did professional domestic work and hosted parties. In 1955, she was featured in Woman's Home Companion Magazine for her hors d'oeuvres, her granddaughter told nj.com.

She was married to Peter Tarver, for 58 years before his death in 1980. They had eight children, 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren, according to nj.com.
A viewing will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Cranford. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m.
