Cranford Police Blotter: Drivers Arrested On Drug, Alcohol Charge
Cranford police arrested a Union woman for driving under the influence and a Pennsylvania woman for possession of LSD in traffic stops.
CRANFORD, NJ — Two people were arrested by Cranford Police this week following traffic stops and investigations involving drug and alcohol charges, police said.
A 34-year-old Union woman was arrested early Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue East when an officer noticed the woman’s car idling on a curb, police said. Monica Caponigro was arrested at 12:41 a.m. for driving while intoxicated. In addition to the alcohol charge, Caponigro was issued a summons for failure to possess a valid registration card, failure to possess valid insurance, driving with a suspended license and refusal to submit to taking breath samples, police said. She will appear in court at a later time, police said.
An 18-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested Monday night for possession of a dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia, police said. Abigail Reilley of Mountain Top, PA, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road after being pulled over by police for making an illegal turn. Following an investigation, police said that Reilley in possession of what is believed to be LSD. In addition, Reilly was cited for making an illegal turn, a seatbelt violation and possession of a dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said. She will appear in court at a later time.

Individuals charged as a result of a police investigation are merely an accusation. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
