CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Riverwalk Restoration and Preservation Alliance and other groups have canceled Saturday's planned "Winter Walk and Coffee with a Cop" event because of anticipated low temperatures and possible snow, they said. The event will likely be rescheduled for spring.

And the Cranford Chamber of Commerce has postponed their breakfast with new mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty Thursday morning. "We will reschedule to a later date," they wrote.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Cranford area through 10 a.m. Thursday. They also say some sleet and snow are possible Saturday and Sunday.

Snow was still on the ground this week from Sunday, when more than five inches of snow fell on Union County, and more is predicted later this week.

"In an abundance of caution, the Cranford Police Department outreach officers, Cranford Riverwalk Restoration and Preservation Alliance, and Cranford Downtown Management have all agreed it is prudent to cancel the Winter Walk and Coffee with a Cop, previously scheduled for Sat., Feb. 13th, due to concerns over safety, low temperatures and the potential for snow," said an announcement.
