Cranford's Holiday Traditions
Making special dishes, volunteering at a specific charity or seeing a tree lighting. How does Cranford celebrate the season?

CRANFORD, NJ - As the holiday season approaches its zenith, we here at Patch thought it would be worth looking at how Cranford celebrates.
The holiday season in downtown Cranford is an incredibly busy one. Parking rules get suspended, carolers singing fills the air and residents go out of their way to share their holiday spirit.
This last week alone, the Cranford Police Department had coffee delivered to them by the Montross family, Dave and Stephanie Jackson delivered pizza, Lidia's Cuban Kitchen provided a plethora of savory dishes and Girl Scout Troop 400665 brought enough sweets to melt the heart of even the iciest Grinch.

Sharing food in Cranford is a common holiday tradition as resident Donny Denison noted that his favorite family tradition centers around culinary creations.
"Making pierogis and orechovnik, nut rolls, with the family," he told Patch was his highlight.

Food also played into Cranford School Superintendent Scott Rubin's holiday traditions.
"The holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year as the focus shines brightly on family. In addition to my in-laws who live with us, my brother’s family from California and my father and his wife spend the season with us," rubin said. "They, along with other family members and friends gather several times over the holidays and fill the days with lots of laughter, baking, playing games, listening to music, making crafts, remembering fond memories and creating new ones. We seem to live in such a fast paced world that this is a wonderful time for everyone to slow down and enjoy time with loved ones."
