Group Will Seek Historic Designation For Cranford Canoe Club
The club was privately owned until 1972, when it was sold to the Township of Cranford.
CRANFORD, NJ — Years ago, there was so much activity on the Rahway River that Cranford was dubbed the "Venice of New Jersey." The once-private Cranford Canoe Club was a key player in those activities, allowing people to explore the water by kayak and canoe.
The club was sold to the township in 1972 and still has activities today.
Now, local residents are seeking a historic designation for it.
