If You See A Giant Peanut Driving Around Cranford, Here's Why
The Planters "NUTmobile" will be giving out products on Wednesday and "spreading smiles."

CRANFORD, NJ — If you keep your eyes peeled on Wednesday, you may see a giant peanut rolling down the Garden State Parkway or parked in Cranford. The NUTmobile, a promotion for Heinz' Planters peanuts products, will stop by a consulting firm on South Avenue East to "spread smiles," the company said in a release.
But it's bringing more. "This is an opportunity for fans in Central Jersey to come and see the NUTmobile up close, snap a photo, and grab a free peanut sample and stickers! So come on by and say 'Shell-o!' " the company says.
(Unless you're allergic, in which case, maybe just stick with the stickers.)

The 26-foot mobile will be visiting Elinphant at 2 South Avenue E, Cranford on Wednesday to “shell-ebrate” their employees for their hard work from 1 to 2 p.m.
This year, the NUTmobile has been taking requests for visits for a birthday or anniversary. Anyone can request a visit from any of three NUTmobiles traveling the country, and the NUTmobile will "make an effort to make your day nutty."

"In a normal year," notes the Planters team, "our schedule would be packed with large-scale events like festivals, county fairs, concerts, and even sporting events. With these events being postponed and COVID making large events unsafe, the scope of our program has changed a little, but the mission remains the same: to make people all over the country smile."
They've visited nursing homes, hospitals, animal shelters, delivered meals to community members, shown appreciation for volunteers, and stopped by neighborhoods for birthdays.
Wednesday's visit came about because Elinphant, a compliance consulting firm, made a request for the vehicle to help "shell-ebrate" their employees, one of whom has a birthday that day.
You can make a request or find the nearest NUTmobile at PlantersNUTmobile.com.
So far, there's no word on whether the Wienermobile will come another day.
