Inaugural Taste Of Cranford Offers Churros, Filet Mignon, More

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford residents on Wednesday are invited to enjoy an afternoon featuring some of the best eats in town.

Gabe Bailer, director of Downtown Cranford, the organization hosting the event, told Patch by phone that hosting an outdoor foodie event has been a goal of the organization for a long time.

Downtown Cranford has always wanted to "create outdoor event that showcases the great food of downtown Cranford and create a stroll where people can try all the different ethnicities," he said. "We're reminding people of social distancing."

This year's lineup of restaurants, Bailer said, feature food from Asia, the Middle East, Mexico, the U.S. and more.

"At this time, we want to make people enjoy food, enjoy life and be careful at the same time," he said.

During the event, participating restaurants will offer à la carte plates that range in price from $5 to $7. A list of eateries can be found online. Bailer said the list is subject to being updated.

Participants are also encouraged to participate in a drawing for a $50 gift card while enjoying Taste of Cranford.

Attendees are encouraged to take a selfie at each restaurant they visit and email it to dmc@cranfordnj.org. Each selfie earns a participant another entry into the drawing.

The winner will receive a $50 gift card to the downtown Cranford restaurant of their choice. Winners will be announced via email.

Among foods to be offered during the event are:

• Truffles
• Chocolate Éclairs
• Hazelnut Crunchy Bars
• Tacos
• Churros with Nutella or dulce de leche
• Filet Mignon
• Hummus and Falafel
• Grilled chili shrimp topped with pineapple jalapeño salsa in a soft corn tortilla
• Chicken tikka masala kati roll or Aloo Potato Roll
• Chicken slider sandwich with special sauce and fries
