Pedestrian In Motorized Scooter Struck By Car In Cranford: Cops

Centennial and Lincoln Avenues have been shut down for the investigation, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A man in a motorized scooter was hospitalized after being struck by a car crossing the road Tuesday, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities, at 12:50 p.m. today the Cranford Police Department received calls for a motor vehicle crash at Centennial Avenue and Lincoln Avenue East. The crash involved a motor vehicle and a pedestrian crossing the roadway with a motorized scooter, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with injuries sustained in the crash. The age, name and patient status of the victim were not released by police.

The Cranford Police Department Traffic Bureau is on scene conducting an investigation and Centennial Avenue at Lincoln is closed while the investigation takes place, police said.
In addition, the Union County Police Department Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene to assist with scene measurements.

At this time, no charges have been filed against the woman driving the car, police said.
