CRANFORD, NJ - Veritas Arts Inc. is partnering with the newly reopened Cranford Movie Theater to host a Red-Carpet screening of the movie “Shooting Heroin” on Thursday.

Producer Spencer Folmar, was inspired to write the movie after seeing the effect of the opioid epidemic on a small town near his childhood home in rural Pennsylvania. While Whispering Pines is fictional, the narrative could take place in any small town. Cranford community organizations and corporate supporters have stepped forward to sponsor the film and promote its message.

In attendance will be stars of the film Garry Pastore (The Irishman and The Deuce) and Cathy Moriarity (Raging Bull and Casper), and Director and Writer Spencer T. Folmar (Generational Sins), along with community leaders and guests.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion including representatives from the Cranford Police Department, Cranford Board of education, Prevention Links and people in recovery.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Prevention Links, a leading partner with the Cranford Police Department and Board of Education. The non-profit works to educate our residents, especially our young people, on the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shooting-heroin-cranford-theatre-premiere-tickets-76516686469. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. showing.
