'Superman' Movie In Cranford Will Benefit Reeve Foundation

CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Theater Drive-In and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, the Millburn-based nonprofit dedicated to curing spinal cord injury, will partner up on July 11 to show the film "Superman" outdoors as a benefit.

The Drive-in will play the original 1978 film starring Christopher Reeve, in honor of Reeve and the 25th year since his horseback riding injury on May 27, 1995. Reeve passed away in 2004.

As part of the experience, the theater is encouraging guests to wear Superman pajamas/capes/costumes and will offer theatergoers an opportunity to donate to the Reeve Foundation, based in Short Hills, NJ.

The Cranford Movie Theater was closed for a time due to the coronavirus crisis, then began showing outdoor drive-in films, which quickly sold out. This will be the first charity benefit at the drive-in.

“What we're doing in Cranford is pretty special," said Doreen Sayegh, owner of the Cranford Movie Theater. "We've built an official movie screen. It's a big, 40-foot screen, with an official movie projector."
