CRANFORD, NJ — Got a little extra time and money to help out this holiday season? The Cranford Fire Department and emergency services will be accepting toy donations for the Toys for Tots program.

Meanwhile, in a related program, the Cranford Jaycees will have Santa deliver toys to children in Cranford this year as well.

Unwrapped new toys for needy kids may be dropped off at Fire Headquarters on weekends only, beginning with this past weekend (Thanksgiving weekend), and running through the weekend before Christmas (Dec. 19 and 20). In order to reduce in-person contact, the public may drop off the donations in a marked box at the front entrance to the firehouse (Springfield Avenue side).

On-duty staff will be regularly bringing donated toys into the building throughout their shifts.

For Santa to deliver

For parents who'd like the Cranford Jaycees to deliver a toy (via Santa) to their child, they can provide that toy (wrapped) and at the same time donate a new toy (unwrapped) on certain dates and times.

For that specific program, you can drop off both toys (wrapped for your children, unwrapped and new for others) at the new drive-through dropoff at the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Ave. this Wednesday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., or this Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Sign up for the latter program via this link.

Santa will deliver on Dec. 11 and Dec. 13, but can't enter homes this year because of coronavirus. (Santa Claus is immune to coronavirus, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, but it's important to set an example.)
