Senator Bob Menendez welcomed Milgram’s nomination, and called it a “great choice.”

“She will be an excellent DEA Administrator, who will work diligently to fight drug trafficking and keep dangerous substances like fentanyl off our streets,” Menendez said in a Twitter post.

Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said he was "delighted" by the Biden administration's announcement.

"Anne Milgram is smart, tough, and deeply committed to justice. The same qualities that made her a fantastic New Jersey AG will make her a superb DEA Administrator," Grewal said on Twitter.

Before her stint as Attorney General of New Jersey, Milgram began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

She then moved to the United States Department of Justice, where she served as a federal prosecutor.
