Curbside freecycling in East Brunswick is back for Spring 2021. It will take place over two days, April 24 & 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at curbs, driveways and yards across the township.

With the success of last fall’s first-ever curbside Freecycling Day, the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission has expanded the event to two days, offering more opportunities for residents to participate in a productive and fun way to keep usable castoffs out of landfills. All items must be offered for free.

Residents can register their addresses and the types of items they are offering for free online at this link. Registration deadline is 6 p.m., April 22. A map showing the locations of participating households will be published online prior to 9 a.m., April 24. Only East Brunswick addresses will be shown on the map.

The following safety guidelines must be observed:

  • Participants must wear masks at all times and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet when browsing.
  • Limit touching of items
  • Participants must bring hand sanitizer and use before and after touching items (Owners may also provide sanitizer)
  • Follow all traffic rules; cars must be parked legally
  • Only one person or family may browse merchandise at a time to insure social distancing.
  • Limit browsing time to no more than 5 minutes if others are waiting.
  • Items are not for resale. Freecycling is an exchange of items for personal use.

At the end of the event, remaining items are the responsibility of the owner and must be properly removed or disposed of in accordance with township regulations. For questions, send email to friends.ebec@gmail.com or go online to friendsebec.com.
