Dinesh Behal Appointed To East Brunswick Council

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — At Monday evening’s town council meeting, Dinesh Behal was appointed unanimously to the council seat left vacant by Sterley Stanley.

Stanley was recently elected to the New Jersey State Legislature from the 18th district. He became the first South Asian from Middlesex County to be sworn into the state assembly.

Behal will serve the remainder of Stanley’s term. He edged out two other candidates - Jason Friedman and Liwu Hong.

Behal is the secretary of the East Brunswick Zoning Board and his term is set to end Dec. 31, 2022. He has also served on the township's library board.

Mayor Brad Cohen administered the oath of office to Behal.

“I want to thank you all for putting trust in me to help carry on a vision that Mayor Cohen has implemented in the last four years,” said Behal.

“I’m looking forward to serving the needs of every resident of our great town East Brunswick.”

Behal is also a licensed realtor and been on the East Brunswick Democratic Party committee since 2016.
