EAST BRUNSWICK CELEBRATES NJ LOCAL GOVERNMENT WEEK: April 7-13

Connect with East Brunswick Township: attend a Homeowner's Workshop, tour the Senior Center or Library, Touch-a-Fire-Truck, and more!

The Township of East Brunswick will be joining municipalities throughout the state in celebrating New Jersey Local Government Week, April 7 through 13, 2019.

Local government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one that most directly impacts its residents on a daily basis. It is essential that residents understand how their local government operates, the services it provides, and the importance of active involvement.

“The Township of East Brunswick provides services and programs that enhance the quality of life in our community; this is what makes our municipality our home. We’re excited to celebrate NJ Local Government Week to inform residents, businesses, and visitors of the many services we provide in the center of New Jersey,” said East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen. “Our goal is that this week’s activities will engage all East Brunswick community members, which will lead to a more knowledgeable citizenry, increased volunteering with our boards, commissions and essential services like firefighting, and improved understanding of township services.”

Select events planned for the week include: Walk with a Doc, led by Councilman and Chiropractor Dr. Spadafino on Sunday April 7th, a Council meeting and municipal art gallery exhibit opening on Monday April 8th, office hours with Councilwoman Sullivan and a Redevelopment Town Hall with the Mayor on Tuesday April 9th, Back to Township Night at the Municipal Complex on Wednesday April 10th, and Commissions and Committee night at the Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road, on Thursday April 11th.

Back to Township Night is for all community members to explore township services and meet with the professionals. This complex-wide open house includes tours of the library and EBTV studio (4:30-7:30pm), tours of the Senior Center and craft show shopping (4-6pm), and the popular Touch-a-Fire-Truck and police vehicle interactive exhibit in the municipal parking lot (6-8pm). The municipal building will be open from 6-8pm so community members can meet the police, find voter registration information, sign up for Revenue ACH direct payments, learn what’s recyclable, explore Department of Recreation activities, view the Municipal Art Gallery, and register with Shop East Brunswick to save on property taxes. The Senior Center will transform from 7-9pm for the Planning & Engineering Open House & Homeowner’s Workshop, where residents and businesses can learn about the permitting process and ask the professionals questions.
