East Brunswick Expected To Fill Vacant Council Seat Soon
Three candidates are being considered for the seat left vacant by Sterley Stanley who was recently elected to the NJ State Legislature.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick town council is expected to soon fill the council seat left vacant by councilman Sterley Stanley.
Stanley was recently elected to the New Jersey State Legislature from the 18th district. He became the first South Asian from Middlesex County to be sworn into the state assembly.

According to Town Clerk Nannett Perry, three candidates are being considered — Dinesh Behal, Jason Friedman and Liwu Hong.
The council was supposed to vote on a replacement at Monday evenings council meeting. But the according to the town clerk’s office, the vote did not happen.

Behal is currently the secretary of the East Brunswick Zoning Board and his current term is set to end Dec. 31, 2022. He has also served on the township's library board.
Hong is serving his second term as an East Brunswick Board of Education member. He is also a practicing attorney.
Friedman is a member of the Middlesex County Planning Board and a commissioner for the East Brunswick Redevelopment Agency. He is a construction professional and a 20-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners.
There’s no clarity on when the final vote on the new council member will be taken.
