East Brunswick Library Hosting Program To Raise Autism Awareness

The public library will be hosting a free webinar to raise awarness on National Autism Awareness Month.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — April is National Autism Awareness Month. The East Brunswick Public Library and Saint Peter's University Hospital are teaming up to host a webinar, "Autism Through the Lifespan."

The webinar will be held on April 23, at 12 p.m.

The program will be led by Rose Mary Merola, MD, FAAP. Several topics will be explored, including the early signs of autism, the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder, treatment options for different age groups, and family resources.

Merola, who is board certified in neurodevelopmental pediatrics, is the chief of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital.

She specializes in treating children with special needs, including autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities with or without cognitive disabilities, and motor deficits.

The program is offered through the East Brunswick Public Library's "Just For The Health of It!" consumer health and wellness information initiative.
