East Brunswick Public Library Makes Getting A Library Card Easier

This new service gives people the ability to sign up for a library card at their convenience.

Too busy to get your library card? Don’t worry. East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center) has made getting a library card easier. East Brunswick residents can now sign up for their East Brunswick Public Library card online at www.ebpl.org/signup.

“We serve an extremely busy community,” said Jennifer Podolsky, East Brunswick Public Library Director. “Finding time to get a library card shouldn’t have to compete with anyone’s work/life balance. This new service gives people the ability to sign up for a library card at their convenience.”

After applying for the library card online, new members will receive their library barcode number within two business days and gives access to the library’s online resources. The physical card will be sent to the customer within seven days.

“Through this new initiative, we’ve made it incredibly easy to get an East Brunswick Public Library card,” she added. “With our quick turnaround time, new cardholders can start borrowing books, magazines and movies from our digital collection within two days.”

Although this new program allows cardholders with access to materials and services without physically having to visit the library, Podolsky invites everyone in the community to stop by.

“Our EB Create makerspace is filled with tech equipment that you can use at the library or borrow, not to mention it has video editing suites and a recording studio. Every day our staff plans events and programs for all ages, covering every topic imaginable.”

The library also offers library cards to students who attend school or who work in town, and members of volunteer EMS and firefighters organizations in East Brunswick. There is also a paid membership option for non-residents.
