East Brunswick Schools To Begin 5-Day In-Person Learning
School superintendent Victor Valeski said the district plans to begin 5-day in-person classes on April 19.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — As the CDC relaxed social distancing recommendations in school settings, East Brunswick is planning to return Pre-k to grade 12 students to school for five days a week, beginning April 19.
School superintendent Victor Valeski made the announcement on Thursday evening.
Valeski said classes will be held for single sessions in the morning and supplemental instruction in the afternoon.

“The impact of Spring Break travel, COVID infection and close contact quarantines along with final classroom distancing recommendations and requirements may impact our forecasted implementation date but be assured that returning students to school five days a week remains one of my top priorities, if we can accomplish it safely,” Valeski said.

The new schedule will go into effect the first day of the 4th marking period, said Valeski.
The learning model form will open on Parent Access on March 22, 3 p.m.
Parents can either choose the virtual learning model or opt for in-person learning.
Two weeks after making the transition to in-person learning, the school district will make an evaluation.
“Any additional step in this process is dependent on social distancing recommendations and required safeguards at that time.,” said Valeski.
“It is important to understand that students in 5 day a week for In-Person Instruction could be required to shift to Virtual Learning during periods of state mandated standardized testing or mandatory quarantines.”
On Friday, CDC changed school guidance and recommended students maintain at least 3 feet distant as long as they're wearing mask, instead of 6 feet.
This new guidance will allow for more desks inside classrooms, which would result in more children returning to in-person classes.
