East Brunswick Schools Thanks Community For 'Patience'

The school district said events from the past year have "forever strengthened" their relationship with the community.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — With Friday being the last day of the school year, the East Brunswick school district has thanked the community for their “patience and understanding” during a year marked by COVID-19 uncertainly.

On Thursday, Superintendent Victor Valeski said he had no “updates” for parents and guardians. “Instead, I call you with thanks for your patience and understanding during this past school year,” Valeski said.

“Tomorrow culminates our year with the graduation of our Class of 2021. If your child is among the Seniors assembling on Jay Doyle Field tomorrow morning, congratulations!”

East Brunswick adopted a hybrid learning module in the fall of last year. Valeski had sat alongside Gov. Phil Murphy, outlining the district’s plan to help students return to classrooms safely.

The school district was held up as a model for reopening plans — social distancing in place and students in classrooms on a rotational basis.

East Brunswick was also among the first to partner with Middlesex County and town officials to implement a new COVID testing model for students and staff members.

“Finally, I want to offer my sincere gratitude for the partnership between our community and schools. As a result of the past year’s events, I think the relationship will be forever strengthened,” Valeski said.

East Brunswick township has suspended all permit parking regulations on Friday, due to high school graduation ceremony.
