EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — In a bid to help restaurants during the pandemic, East Brunswick has decided to waive permit fees for outdoor dining structures.

The Town Council unanimously approved the waiver at the Monday evening meeting.

“The continuing pandemic has caused so many small East Brunswick businesses to suffer. The restaurant and bar industry have sustained some of the worst losses,” Mayor Brad Cohen said in a statement.

“The Township wants to do everything it can to help sustain this vital part of our economy and our community,” said Cohen.

Businesses will still need to file for a Uniform Construction Code (UCC) permit, only the fees have been waived.

With winter fast approaching, restaurants that need outdoor structures, were required to apply for permit at their local offices.
