East Brunswick YMCA Gets Grant To Offer Low-Cost Swim Lessons
Raritan Valley YMCA was among 67 centers to receive the grant from The USA Swimming Foundation, for their program.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Raritan Valley YMCA recently received a grant from the USA Swimming Foundation to offer free and low-cost swimming lessons to children.
The East Brunswick YMCA was among 67 centers to receive the grant.
“We are honored to be chosen for this grant,” Director of Aquatics, Brian Rose said. “The money we received will be put toward improving our year-end goal of graduating 250 new kids from our learn to swim program.”

The USA Swimming Foundation awarded a total of $507,618 to programs across the country who will provide lessons to around 13,800 children.
The USA Swimming Foundation vetted 243 applications through an annual review process and chose 67 programs to receive funding.

“We are thrilled with the depth of this year’s swim lesson provider applicant pool and we couldn’t be prouder to support these life-saving opportunities for children across the country,” Scott Usher, Director of Development for the USA Swimming Foundation said in a statement.
“We owe a tremendous thank you to our partners and donors who continue to make a difference in our mission of saving lives and building champions.”
The Raritan Valley YMCA is a state-licensed childcare facility that works to promote youth development, health living and social responsibility through the various programs and services.
The YMCA has in the past, offered swim programs to as many as 1,000 people in a single year, through the swim lesson program, daily lessons for summer campers, the Riptide swim team, and free lessons through grant programs such as the USA Swimming Foundation.
After the initial pandemic shut down, the swim lesson program re-opened in Summer 2020.
