Experience Halloween At East Jersey Old Town Village Oct. 27

Come for hayrides, slime making and crafts for the kids and Raconteur Radio's "War of the Worlds" and "The Raven" for adults. All are free.

PISCATAWAY, NJ — Experience Halloween at East Jersey Old Town Village with events that combine history with the spooky spirit of the season.

All activities will take place on Sunday, October 27 at East Jersey Old Town Village at 1050 River Road in Piscataway, and the Cornelius Low House, located at 1225 River Road in Piscataway.

These events are free of charge, including free parking. A shuttle will be provided.

Historic Halloween at East Jersey Old Town Village on October 27:

  • 1-5 p.m. Horse and Wagon Rides
  • 4-9 p.m. Children’s Crafts
  • 5 p.m. Magic Lantern Theatre
  • 6 p.m. Raconteur Radio presents “War of the Worlds”
  • 7 p.m. Magic Lantern Theatre
  • 8 p.m. Raconteur Radio presents “War of the Worlds”

  • 4-9 pm Children’s Crafts
  • 4-9 pm 1950’s Halloween Horror Movie Marathon
  • 4 pm “The Blob”
  • 5:30 pm “The Day the Earth Stood Still”
  • 7:30 pm “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”

The events at East Jersey Old Town will include a live recreation of the 1930s radio play that shocked America, “War of the Worlds,” by Raconteur Radio. There will also be a Victorian Halloween magic-lantern show. See America’s 1890s visual extravaganza projected on a full-sized screen – the kind of boisterous show that led to the movies!

Spooktacular stories like The Raven, animated comedy, and songs – all dramatized on screen by a live showman and singer/pianist. NPR calls it, “An incredible experience . . . a living national treasure!”

Meanwhile, the Cornelius Low House’s tribute to the 1950s continues with a horror movie marathon of some of the decade’s most iconic films. Younger viewers will get to take part in some fun themed crafts, including making an alien ‘pod’, ‘blob’ slime and more.
