Fall Cleanup! Curbside Freecycling Day Oct. 17 in East Brunswick
Masks and Social Distancing Emphasized for Community-wide Event

East Brunswick’s popular Freecycling Day will have a new look this fall.
In order to keep residents safe and avoid crowds from congregating around merchandise, the event will be held on driveways, curbs and in yards from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The rain date is Oct 18.
Residents can register their addresses and the types of items they are offering for free online at this link. Registration deadline is Oct. 15. A map showing the locations of participating households will be published online prior to 9 a.m. on Oct. 17. Only East Brunswick addresses will be shown on the map.

Residents also can join the Freecycling East Brunswick Facebook group for updates.
Sponsored by the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission, Freecycling Day is an opportunity to give away unneeded, usable household items and find things that someone else is discarding. It is an environmentally responsible trading and treasure hunt that keeps usable items out of landfills. All items must be offered for free.

Recommended items for freecycling include clothing, shoes, bicycles, dishes, pots and pans, toys, silverware, small appliances, tools, power tools, kitchen items, garage items, electronics, pet supplies and small furniture . It is recommended that boxed toys, games and anything with small parts be taped shut.
The following rules must be observed:
- All items must be offered for free.
- All participants must wear masks at all times and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet when browsing.
- Limit touching of items
- Participants must bring hand sanitizer and use before and after touching items (Owners may also provide sanitizer)
- Follow all traffic rules; cars must be parked legally
- Only one person or family may browse merchandise at a time to insure social distancing.
- Limit browsing time to no more than 5 minutes if others are waiting.
- Items are not for resale. Freecycling is an exchange of items for personal use.
