Frankie Edgar, UFC Champ, in North Brunswick Saturday

North Brunswick, NJ - Former UFC lightweight champion and current featherweight contender Frankie Edgar will be opening up the new UFC gym in North Brunswick this Saturday, June 11. As Patch previously reported, Edgar, who is actually a New Jersey native (Toms River), already did autograph signings in North Brunswick to hype the new gym back in March.

The new gym is located at 1846 Rt. 1 (what used to be the WOW! Workout World). Saturday is the gym's grand opening. At 25,000 square feet, it will be the largest UFC gym in New Jersey.

In July, Edgar will be fighting Jose Aldo for the Featherweight Championship.

Highlighted by a 30-foot Octagon, the gym will have strength training and cardio machines, battle ropes, agility ladders, bag room, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu studio and large group fitness rooms. The gym uses cutting-edge training techniques inspired by UFC athletes. It will also have full amenity locker rooms with dry saunas and a cafe.

The Grand Opening celebration, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, will feature appearances by UFC athletes, several of which will lead free classes and seminars. UFC athletes scheduled to appear:

· Frankie Edgar – UFC Featherweight and former Lightweight Champion

· Matt Hughes - Two-time UFC Welterweight Champion and UFC Hall of Famer

· Eddie Alvarez – UFC Lightweight

· Edson Barboza – UFC Lightweight

· Renzo Gracie – Former UFC Athlete and world famous Jiu-Jitsu coach

· Rafael Natal – UFC Middleweight
