East Brunswick Daisy Troop Shines with their "Art with Heart" Project
Warnsdorfer Elementary School Troop #81267, created meaningful memories from home for our servicemen and women with their "Art with Heart" project on Friday May 31, 2019. The East Brunswick Troop, co-led by Ms. Marie Lipsitz and Mrs. Melissa Davey, guided the daisies in developing a zero cost project that would leave an imprint on the hearts and minds of our soldiers.
After receiving permission from Rev. Thomas J. Walsh (Father Tom) at St. Bartholomew's Church in East Brunswick, #81267 embarked on a field trip to visit the prayer garden. This event was spiritual but not religious in nature. The daisies took turns reading aloud Shel Silverstein's classic "The Giving Tree" and shared their thoughts on how the tree sacrifices all for the 'little boy.' These sharp cookies realized that our soldiers also sacrifice all and humbly began their artistic journey. Julia Davey, a junior from Mrs. Sampson's girl scout troop #82460, assisted by sharing with the girls how her grandpa's favorite experience as a Marine by far was receiving letters from home.
The scenic and spiritual prayer garden sparked the imagination of the young artists as they sketched for our soldiers. They drew butterflies, trees, birds and hearts. Some young ladies wrote messages such as "You are always in our hearts" and one scout simply printed "thank you" on the wing of a cardinal. The troop held up their art work for a "gallery walk" and offered positive feedback to each other. Ms. Marie Lipsitz is donating all stamps for the project so that "Art with Heart" can brighten a soldier's day long prior to our target date of July 4, 2019. Photo of troop #81267 features (from back row) daisies: Lianna and Ramla. Front row features daisies (left to right) Lauryn, Ilisha, Aiona, Cora, Mehar, Maryiam, London, Julia-Rose, Lehar, Lania and Olivia with Ms. Leamore Johnson (not pictured.) Special thanks to Father Tom for inviting the daisies to visit this tranquil garden.
If the daisies have inspired you to create your own "Art with Heart" or write a letter "to those who sacrifice all," please send it to:A Million Thanks17853 Santiago Blvd # 107-355Villa Park, CA 92861
