Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society Receives Large Grant
Grant From USA TODAY NETWORK and the Gannett Foundation

Milltown, NJ – Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society was announced a grant recipient of A Community Thrives, a grantmaking and crowd-funding program from the USA TODAY NETWORK and a part of the Gannett Foundation. Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society will receive a $6,000 local operating grant.
A Community Thrives supports non-profit organizations with projects focused on community building and has helped to contribute more than $12 million since 2017. This year, A Community Thrives engaged participants in 45 states.
“We are proud of the work Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society has done to enhance their local community. Through A Community Thrives, we lend financial support to that purpose as well as rally the whole community to champion a good and meaningful cause,” said Gannett CEO and Chairman Mike Reed.

For 10 years, Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society, with the help of their supporters, has cleared the shelters and saved animals. The next decade will bring expanded services to make a bigger impact directly on their local community.
“We’re thrilled to receive this grant, which will directly go toward funding our new Pawsitive Impact project,” said Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society Executive Director Krystal Hasard. “We'll be able to expand the program by purchasing equipment, educational materials, and cover the increase in spay and neuter costs that come with Trap-Neuter-Return. Our volunteer team has already been gearing up and is ready to get out there and change lives!”
