Library program explores "Autism Through the Lifespan"
Several topics will be covered, including the early signs of autism and the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder.

Saint Peter's University Hospital and East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) team up for the webinar, "Autism Through the Lifespan," on Friday, April 23, at noon.
This program is led by Rose Mary Merola, MD, FAAP. Several topics will be covered, including the early signs of autism, the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder, treatment options for different age groups, and family resources.
Dr. Merola, who is board certified in neurodevelopmental pediatrics, is the chief of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital. She completed her pediatric residency at Brookdale University Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, followed by a fellowship in neurodevelopmental pediatrics at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ.

She specializes in treating children from birth to 21 years old who have special needs, including autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities with or without cognitive disabilities, and motor deficits. Her area of interest is in early intervention.
Dr. Merola is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society for the Advancement of Sciences, American Professionals Practice Society, and the Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
