Woman Killed In North Brunswick Car Crash Wednesday Night

The woman was killed on the 900 block of Hermann Road just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The van she was driving struck a tree.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — North Brunswick police are still out at the scene of Hermann Road Thursday as they continue to investigate a single-vehicle car accident Wednesday night that killed a woman.

At approximately 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, North Brunswick police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in front of 923 Hermann Road in North Brunswick. Police located a 2017 Kia Sedona van that had come to rest adjacent to a tree on that property. The female driver was unresponsive.

She has been identified as Zebera Speed, 74, of Somerset.

Despite the efforts of police and the North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad, the woman was later pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Preliminary details reveal that the van was traveling on Hermann Road westbound before leaving the roadway and hitting a single tree on the above-mentioned property. The woman was the sole occupant. There were no other vehicles or injuries involved.

Hermann Road will be closed between Livingston Avenue and Newton Street until 1:15 p.m. Thursday, North Brunswick police said, as they further investigate last night's collision.
