More Than Half Of East Brunswick Fully Vaccinated Against COVID

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — According to data released by the New Jersey Department of Health, more than half of East Brunswick's adult population have now been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Based on recent data, 52 percent of East Brunswick adults are fully vaccinated, and 70 percent have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The percentage is higher when it comes to seniors, with 74 percent of residents aged 65-and-older being fully vaccinated.

East Brunswick has a total population of 48,536, with 38514 being over 18.

On Monday, the New Jersey Department of Health released town-level data on COVID-19 vaccinations. The state's COVID-19 dashboard now reveals the percentage of all people, adults, and seniors who have been partially or fully vaccinated in each city and town.

In Middlesex County, Cranbury takes the top spot in vaccine compliance with 67 percent of adults being fully vaccinated and 85 percent receiving one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Monroe Township is a close second, with 60 percent of the adult population fully vaccinated and 74 percent receiving at least one dose.

South Brunswick comes in third with 58 percent of adult residents fully vaccinated, and 78 percent have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

There are still many towns in New Jersey with low vaccination rates. Among them are Trenton (17 percent), Camden (18 percent), Lakehurst Borough (17 percent), and South Toms River (19 percent).

In townships like Princeton, 86 percent of senior residents have been vaccinated. In Avalon, which doesn't have a large youth population, 90 percent of all town residents have been vaccinated.

New Jersey aims to fully vaccinate 70 percent of adults — 4.7 million people — by the end of June. About 3.7 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated as of Wednesday.
