EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ —East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen recently inaugurated the new Crunch Fitness gym on Route 18.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Cohen said people could finally see “light at the end of the tunnel” as businesses have slowly started to reopen.

“I think it’s a great thing for East Brunswick that we are actually being able to show that businesses are coming back into town and are actually going to help restore the economy here,” said Cohen.

“The pandemic, we are not through it. But we can start to see this thing in the rear-view mirror,” said Lee.

The Crunch Fitness center is a little over 20,000 square feet, and members work out while wearing masks, said Lee.

The gym is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the gym operates from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nick Moller, the vice president of personal training, said the East Brunswick community “has been great to us the whole time and we’re just looking to really give back.”

Also present at the inauguration were councilman Michael Spadafino, council president Sharon Sullivan and members of the East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.

The gym is located at the former Kmart site on Route 18. The site is also home to storage facility CubeSmart and the Clothing Center, which has been in the community for 30 years.
