Nor'easter Impact: 5.9 Inches Snow In East Brunswick

Cleanup is underway in East Brunswick, as the nor'easter leaves behind a wintery mess.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – A “major" nor'easter rolled into Middlesex County area on Wednesday, bringing 5.9 inches of snow to East Brunswick.

Around 8 a.m. on Thursday morning Hardenburg Lane was closed in both directions by Fresh Ponds Road, due to downed power lines.

Police personnel were on scene controlling traffic control. Around 12:15 p.m. the road was cleared and opened.

Snow plow crews are still working to clear the roads.

East Brunswick Public Schools opted for a "single session snow day" on Thursday. Virtual instruction continued through the morning, but students were given the afternoon off to "get outside, take pictures and enjoy the moments," informed school superintendent Victor Valeski.

The "major" nor'easter hit the Garden State on Wednesday and shut down trains and buses, and caused crashes and other problems. More than 12,000 power outages were reported across the state, and more than 200 crashes were reported.

Some parts of New Jersey received more than 11 inches of snow.
