Reminder: Laurie Hernandez Parade in Old Bridge This Saturday

Expect traffic delays in Old Bridge Saturday, as gold-medal-winning Laurie Hernandez is welcomed back with a hometown parade.

Old Bridge, NJ - Expect traffic delays in Old Bridge Township Saturday, as Central New Jersey prepares to welcome back gold-medal Olympic-winning hero Laurie Hernandez with a hometown parade.

Old Bridge Township will host a parade this Saturday, Aug. 27 to welcome back Laurie, one of the stars of the gold-winning Fantastic Five U.S. women's gymnastics team, along with Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian. Hernandez, 16, lives with her brother and parents in Old Bridge and is a student at Abeka Academy High School. She trains at MG Elite (Monmouth Gymnastics Academy) in Morganville. The parade starts at noon sharp from Jonas Salk Middle School and culminates with a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at Lombardi Field off Rt. 516. There will be inflatables, free cotton candy and popcorn, provided by Monmouth Gymnastics and Cheer.

Expect delays on Englishtown Rd., Bentley Ave., Rt. 18, Southwood Dr., Rt. 516, Gaub Rd, Throckmorton La., Ticetown Rd, Cottrell Rd, Rt. 516 and Wisdom Way Saturday. ValleyVale Dr. will be closed at the Ticetown Intersection. The only entrance to the ceremony will be at Rt. 516 and Wisdom Way. Alternate parking will be at St. Ambrose Church (96 Throckmorton Lane) and Old Bridge High School (4209 County Rd 516, Matawan, NJ 07747). Shuttles will be provided at both locations. *This is a rain or shine event*
