Plainfield Man Charged in South River Shooting: Prosecutor

Bryant King, 26, of Plainfield was charged in connection with a shooting near Kilimanjaro Bar & Grille, on Old Bridge Turnpike.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Plainfield man was charged in connection with a South River shooting that occurred on Oct. 21, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Mark Tinitigan of the South River Police Department announced Monday.

Bryant King, 26, was charged with one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree possession of a handgun without a permit, said police. He was charged on Oct.24.

On Oct. 21 police announced they were investigating a shooting near Kilimanjaro Bar & Grille, on Old Bridge Turnpike. The incident happened at 2 a.m. said the police. No injuries were reported.

King was charged following a joint investigation by Patrolman Bernard Mackiel of the South River Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.
