Rt. 18 Resurfacing Project Begins In East Brunswick Aug. 22

A resurfacing project will require shoulder, lane and ramp closures on Rt. 18 in both directions between Hillsdale Rd. and Eggers St.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — On Tuesday, Aug. 21, New Jersey Department of Transportation officials announced the start of a resurfacing project that will require shoulder, lane and ramp closures along five miles of Rt. 18 in both directions between Hillsdale Road and Eggers Street in East Brunswick.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, until 6 a.m. the next day, and continuing weekdays for approximately two weeks or until completion, the DOT will temporarily close shoulders, lanes and ramps starting on Rt. 18 southbound from Hillsdale Road to Eggers Street. The DOT will then shift onto Rt. 18 northbound from Eggers Street to Hillsdale Road to install construction signs and start milling and paving. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times.

The work will be done by the DOT’s contractor, Black Rock Enterprises LLC.

The traffic detours will be coordinated with New Jersey State Police. If work is completed earlier, Rt. 18 will be reopened as normal.
