Sayreville Mom Delivers Middlesex County's 1st Baby Of Decade

Little Elias Vargas was born at 12:54 a.m. on New Year's Day at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — Middlesex County's first baby born in the new decade was little Elias Anthony Alejandro Vargas, born at 12:54 a.m. on New Year's Day at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, the hospital announced.

The baby was born to mother Emily Vargas, who lives in Sayreville. Proud mother and son are pictured above. The hospital says he was the first baby born in 2020 in all of Middlesex County.

Little Elias entered this world weighing seven pounds, 2.3 ounces and measuring 19 and 3/4 inches long.

A Monmouth County baby had him beat by about half an hour, coming in at 12:16 a.m. at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, delivered to a Marlboro Twp. mom. In Ocean County, a Seaside Park woman delivered her little girl at 1:19 a.m. on New Year's Day, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.
