Schools Delay Reopening, Snow Total In East Brunswick
Weather proved to be predominant concern for school authorities in the county. Additional winter weather in the forecast for New Jersey.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — As Sunday’s storm dumped more snow in East Brunswick, the school district pushed back reopening of in-person classes in the hybrid track by a day.
The district was scheduled to begin in-person learning on Monday. Sunday evening, school superintendent Victor Valeski sent out a message to the school community informing them of the change.
“We were fully prepared to return to hybrid instruction tomorrow. After consulting with the Township Office of Emergency Management, it is not just the snow we are dealing with throughout the rest of today and tonight...it is also the freezing that will occur overnight and will continue to present challenges through tomorrow morning,” Valeski said.

All schools will operate remotely on Monday, with a single day session and no supplemental instruction in the afternoon.
“Only essential personnel shall report to facilities. By preserving snow days, we have the opportunity to give back each one saved later this school year,” Valeski said.
