NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Friday's 40 mph wind gusts brought down trees onto cars in both North Brunswick and South Brunswick Twps., as shown in these photos provided by North Brunswick police. The Central Jersey region experienced wind gusts of over 40 mph Friday afternoon in the nor'easter. North Brunswick police were warning residents not to go outside.

Trees came down on cars on Seminole Road and Schmidt Lane in North Brunswick. In the Schmidt Lane incident, the fallen tree caused a natural gas leak and residents had to be evacuated from the property.

In South Brunswick, a tree fell on a car on Henderson Road and a downed pole with live wires closed down Georges Rd. by Crossroads North Middle School.

Ruptured pipes caused concerns over a possible gas leak in North Brunswick.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in any of the incidents. A tree also fell on Masoma Road in North Brunswick, shutting the road down.

  • Kendall Road – wires down, no vehicles are involved
  • Norton Road - pole down
  • Dey Road – Poles and wires down CLOSED
  • Old Road - CLOSED
