Two Teens Charged In Fatal North Brunswick Shooting
Mark Atkins, 18, of Plainfield was killed in Wednesday evening's shooting in North Brunswick.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two teens have been charged with the shooting death of Mark Atkins, 18, of Plainfield, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Joseph Battaglia of the North Brunswick Township Police Department announced Friday.
The two male teens, both 17 and of North Brunswick, have been charged with one count of murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, and one count of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, said police.
The shooting happened at the Renaissance Glen Apartments in North Brunswick, on Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m., said police.

Officers responded to Marc Drive following reports of a shooting, police said. Upon their arrival, they found one of the male juveniles had sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound, police said.

Police later found Atkins who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, authorities said.
The investigation is active and continuing.
