The East Brunswick Police Department and Paramedics were on the scene when Valeski and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Director of School Security Operations arrived at the school.

“The response and investigation was isolated from students in the building and buses were rerouted at the building, for dismissal, to keep students from the investigative scene,” Valeski said.

Around the same time, there was an active police investigation at the Air Force Recruiting Center on Rt.18 near Racetrack road.

“No EBPS students were in jeopardy but Irwin Elementary School was notified because of potential traffic backups, during dismissal, resulting from the police investigation,” said Valeski.

No further details are currently available as the incident is under investigation.
