Vehicular Homicide Charge Filed In Middlesex County Crash

A New York man has been been charged with vehicular homicide after a crash Sunday morning on the Garden State Parkway, reports say.

A New York man has been been charged with vehicular homicide after a crash Sunday morning on the Garden State Parkway claimed the life of one of his passengers, according to published reports.

Mark Ellis, 29, of New York City was also charged with DWI and two counts of assault by auto after the 7 a.m. crash in Old Bridge forced State Police to close the southbound express lanes for several hours, police told NJ.com.

Ellis is hospitalized with injuries he suffered after the GMC Yukon he was driving overturned near mile marker 122.3, according to WNBC and NJ.com.

One of his passengers, Steven Rivera, 28, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene, the television station reported.

Ellis and Rivera were both ejected from the vehicle, WNBC said. Two other passengers were also injured, according to News 12 New Jersey.
