Water Main Break on George Street in East Brunswick

The balmy temperatures have caused at least three water main breaks in and around East Brunswick Thursday.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - As of noon Thursday, water crews were en route to repair a water main break at 9 George Street in East Brunswick. There may be water quality issues and service interruptions in the surrounding area, police said.

This comes the same time Thursday that Baekeland Avenue in Middlesex borough had to be shut down due to a water main break, and a water main ruptured in Milltown Thursday morning. A sudden change in temperature — such as freezing weather one day and temperatures in the 60s the next — can cause aging water pipes to swell and crack.
