The East Hanover Council approved $14,324.09 in special items for the 2013 municipal budget to go toward police programs, alcohol education and rehabilitation.
Kenneth Huelbig, the township's chief financial officer, said, "We received $1,266.59 to be spent on Alcohol Education & Rehabilitation from the State of NJ Judiciary."
The money will go to pay for court personnel in DWI cases in the township's municipal court.
Another grant of $10,878 came from Morris County to pay for Municipal Alliance Programs. Under this grant, Huelbig said, the township is obliged to give a 25 percent matching grant of $2,719.50, making up the third grant approved by the township council.

The council unanimously approved the items in three separate resolutions at their meeting on July 1.
