Athletics Asst. Principals Appointed to High Schools

The regional Board of Education unanimously approved the appointments Wednesday.

New assistant principals will join the staff of the two high schools in the Hanover Park Regional School District.

Brent Kaiser, the athletic director for the district, was appointed to the role of Assistant Principal in Charge of Athletics and Physical Education for Whippany Park High School.

Kaiser previously worked at Whippany Park High before he became the athletic director for both high schools.

Michael Menditto will take the same role at Hanover Park High School. Menditto currently serves as the football coach at Emerson Junior/Senior High School, where he has been since 2000.

Two parents from the district spoke at a board meeting in January to ask for an athletic director at both schools. Meg Bartholomew said the job was too much to ask of one person for too long.

"With his exemplary talents, [Kaiser] could find a job as athletic director at one school instead of two," Bartholomew said. "The job is too demanding for one person."

Richard Dunne said he believed there were athletic purchases overlooked at Whippany Park High School.

The board approved the finances for the two positions in their 2013-14 school budget at that January meeting.

Compensation for both men will be $116,169 for the 2013-14 school year.

Further staff appointment for the 2013-14 school year approved at the board meeting Wednesday night include:

  • Robert Lenox as a Hanover Park High Social Studies teacher for a salary of $51,603;
  • Brian McCarthy as a Business Education teacher at Hanover Park High for a salary of $57,720.
